On Order Purchase Policy:
We are getting quite a few customers who rely on our judgement to select bulls for them and their breeding programs. We are very happy to provide this service. If you are unable to attend, please feel free to give us a call, and let our knowledge of the bulls and pedigrees help in selection animals that will work for you.
Dear Cattlemen -

It is with great enthusiasm and pride we welcome you to our annual “Optimum” bull sale. We are delighted with the quality and consistency of the offering that are available once again for your selection.

DCC has been and will continue to be committed to utilizing genetic selection technology such as GeneStar DNA testing for tenderness and color pattern, embryo transfer, as well as EPD’s and visual indicators of growth, disposition, longevity and eye appeal. We operate the largest herd of registered Maine-Anjou cattle in North American to provide customers with bulls and replacement females to meet their individual goals.

While we recognize that individual goals of customers are different, we have provided a variety of performance and ultrasound data on each bull which includes birth weight, 205-day weights, scrotal measurements, verified breeding soundness exam, rib eye area, back-fat, intramuscular fat, GeneStar tenderness. In addition, every bull offered has been tested negative for PHA and TH. This combined with large sire groups to provide genetic similar of offspring, producers can purchase with confidence to improve specific traits or end-points with in your herd. In addition, the value of replacement females from DCC genetics has never been higher and can add m ore value to your calf crop.

Due to continued high demand, we have expanded the number of females offered in this year’s sale. Whether you are looking for a show prospect, future donor for your herd, or a group of genetically similar females to produce breeding, show or commercial offspring, look no further. The elite females have the productivity and functionality along with superior genetic backing to work in any operation.

We encourage you to call and visit with us if you have any questions about the offering or how DCC may be able to help advance your program. We value your inquiries and interest and would be honored to visit with you about the offering. We look forward to seeing you on February 17th.

Sincerely,

Fred, Joan & Family

Also to our crew who helped get the cattle ready. Our family is truly grateful!

What Past Customers Are Saying...

“Calf vigor at birth is excellent. No birthweight problems. Excellent heterosis factor with my BWF F1 corss cows. Bulls purchased sight unseen. Slaughter results have been outstanding. Thanks for your help and time.”

     - Kurt L. Remus, Wellfleet, NE

“DCC bulls have added frame and muscle to my calf crop. I’ve been able to add 150-200 pounds to the selling weight of my calves. Last year I was selling 1,000 pound calves at 10 1/2 months of age. Good genetics made the difference.”

     - Brad Hohbach, White Lake, SD

Dear Fred:
As per our phone conversation, I look forward to being at your upcoming bull and heifer sale this February. I applaud you for your continuing efforts to be the leader in the Maine-Anjou breed in testing all of you sale bulls for tenderness scores. The day for being paid for tenderness is just around the corner as the scientists at the Meat Animal Research Center (MARC) at Clay Center, Nebraska, are soon to introduce an instrument that will measure tenderness on the packer’s processing line. The results of your sale bull tender-ness scores are exciting and will be a definite genetic sale attraction. Instrument grading is also a reality in that it is presently being test-ed in processing plants to measure quality and yield grade. As producers continue to select for genetic improvements, it has been my pleasure to feed a large number of DeRouchey sired calves in the association’s National Feeding Trial that have done extremely well in winning many awards. The DeRouchey sired calves have always marbled well with a high percentage of Choice and out-standing cutabilities, while being lean and producing a large number of yield grade ones and twos.

As one of the top priorities of the DeRouchey cattle program, you have always selected for calving ease traits. I have the distinct pleasure of working with many producers that have purchased DeRouchey bulls and calving problems have virtually been nonexistent. Continue in your selection for ‘problem free cattle.’

Using DeRouchey Maine-Anjou bulls in a crossbreeding pro-gram provides the ‘heterosis’ for many advantages from increased weaning weights, calf livability and vigor plus ‘maternal heterosis’ where you can realize gains from crossbreeding of 17% more calves, 25.3% more weaning weight, and a 38% longer productive lifetime for the female. Crossbreeding - It Pays!

Please update your customers on the available programs that the American Maine-Anjou Association offers to market your customer’s cattle. We have ‘free’ website available for your customers to advertise their Maine-Anjou influenced feeder calves, females, and bulls that they have for sale. Just have them contact me at 515-201- 3281.

Cattle feeders need the type of cattle that will perform, go on feed, and adapt to feedlot conditions with minimal health problems plus have the genetic ability to do well on grids for added value. Your time-tested genetics have proven that they can meet or exceed these demands.

Fred, I appreciate the fact that DeRouchey Cattle Company always strives to provide the right combinations of genetics to keep your customers in business. By using DeRouchey genetics your customers can prepare to command top value for their calves. If I can be of help in any way, please don’t hesitate to call.

Respectfully,
Dave Steen

A Tribute To Colonel Stanley E. Stout...

Words cannot express what Stanley Stout meant not only to DeRouchey Cattle Company, but to all the lives touched by his presence. As our friend and cornerstone auctioneer, he was genuinely interested in, and dedicated his life to the cattlemen he worked for on their sale day. At Stanley’s funeral when the recording was played of the Denver Maine-Anjou Sale, it was a tearful final realization that we would no longer hear his familiar auction chant. His lively personality and enthusiasm will be greatly missed. His memory will remain in our hearts and prayers.
